mounts

Choose a mount with rugged horns and original, richly textured fur to honor your big game for generations.

Meticulous attention to detail, precise mounting, and durable clear coats ensure a long-lasting display that performs beautifully.

The Cape Buffalo is one of the pieces we are most proud of. Our uncompromising attention to detail ensures every mount is a true masterpiece. With reference photographs provided by the hunter, we recreate the character, power, and presence of your buffalo—turning your ultimate Black Death hunt into a memory that will be remembered forever.

Custom mounts are perfect for grand slam hunts like Tiny 10 or colour variants.

On request, we will travel to your hunting area to meet with you personally and spend time discussing your trophies. Together, we’ll plan how each piece should be mounted and which pose will best showcase the character of your trophy.

Every species has unique features, colors, and expressions. When mounted at the correct angle and with careful attention to detail, these qualities are brought to life—ensuring your trophy reflects the true beauty of the animal and the memory behind it.

A custom taxidermy mount of an African kudu gazelle, showcased on a pedestal accented with natural elements—sanded earth, faux stones, and tall savannah grass re-creations. The kudu’s spiraled horns, rich brown and white coat, and carefully reconstructed musculature are depicted with photographic clarity, the textures inviting touch. The setting is a modern display gallery with neutral-colored walls and framed wildlife art, softly lit by diffused spotlights overhead. The atmosphere is serene and slightly mysterious, emphasizing both the beauty of the animal and the meticulous attention to lifelike details. Shot at a slight upward angle, the composition accentuates the animal’s grace and grandeur, with a clean, professional, and immersive aesthetic.

Each piece is custom-posed to reflect your hunt’s unique story and landscape perfectly everywhere.

The taxidermy

With over a decade of experience, Pieter van Bergen began his journey as a taxidermist driven by a lifelong connection to wildlife. Growing up on a farm in Limpopo, Pieter was introduced to hunting at a young age, laying the foundation for a deep respect and understanding of African game.

Later in life, he expanded his expertise through breeding all major African game species, gaining exceptional knowledge of anatomy and the fine details that make each species unique. Working alongside some of the industry’s most respected names, Pieter refined his skills and strengthened his passion for creating true taxidermy masterpieces.

Today, Pieter is the owner of Royal Buffalo Taxidermy. The studio was founded with a clear vision—to take a different path in the industry by focusing on exceptional client service and the creation of uncompromising, museum-quality work. At Royal Buffalo Taxidermy, every piece is crafted with time, care, and absolute dedication to excellence.

A word from Pieter

My entire life, I’ve had the privilege of working with wildlife—hunting, breeding, and taxidermy. I never expected to fall in love with taxidermy the way I did, but today my whole heart is in this craft.

Every trophy I create must be a masterpiece. For me, only perfection is acceptable. That’s why I personally complete every mount in my studio, ensuring each piece meets my highest standards.

A true trophy isn’t measured in inches—it’s measured in memories and the story behind it. Let me create a piece for your wall that you can be proud of, one that brings you back to that moment and lets you relive it for years to come.

Tell us your species, habitat, and preferred pose; we tailor each piece to your trophy.
